RSP concludes first-round central committee election
The election was held to select members of the party’s 99-member elected central committee.
KATHMANDU: The first phase of voting under the inaugural general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been completed, electing members to the party’s central committee.
The election was held to select members of the party’s 99-member elected central committee.
The party will now move to the second phase of the electoral process, during which office-bearers will be chosen through voting.
Under the party’s amended statute, the central committee will comprise 158 members, with the remaining positions to be filled through nominations by the party chair.
Although the revised statute provides for a 19-member office-bearer structure, elections will be held for only seven posts.
Among them, party President Rabi Lamichhane has already been elected unopposed.
Voting will therefore take place for the remaining six positions: one open vice-president, one female vice-chairperson, one open general secretary, two open joint general secretaries, and one female joint general secretary.
According to party spokesperson Manish Jha, preparations are underway to begin the second phase of voting at 4:00 PM today.
Jha said the party aims to complete the voting process efficiently, estimating that each voter will require around four to five minutes to cast their ballot.
