KATHMANDU: A total of 2,365 drivers were penalized for violating traffic rules across the Kathmandu Valley in the past 24 hours, generating Rs 2.177 million in revenue for the state treasury.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, action was taken against 88 drivers for drunk driving, 258 for operating ride-sharing services illegally, 156 for jumping traffic lights, and 174 for overspeeding.
Similarly, 123 motorists were fined for lane discipline violations, 128 for unnecessary honking in restricted areas, 124 for parking on sidewalks, and 163 for driving on one-way roads.
In addition, 1,121 drivers faced action for various other traffic rule violations, the office said.
