UML’s Mahar faces arrest over cybercrime complaint
The Cyber Bureau of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) obtained permission for the arrest based on a complaint filed under cybercrime regulations.
KATHMANDU: The police have issued an arrest warrant against Ain Mahar, a Central Committee member of the CPN (UML).
The Cyber Bureau of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) obtained permission for the arrest based on a complaint filed under cybercrime regulations.
According to sources, the Cyber Bureau initiated the investigation following a complaint submitted by a woman against Mahar. A police source stated, “The Bureau has obtained arrest permission based on a complaint lodged by a woman. We are following the legal procedures.”
Mahar began his public life through student politics and rose through the ranks of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) to become a central member of the UML.
Hailing from Bajhang, he had contested the recent federal elections but was defeated by Bhanubhakta Joshi of the CPN (Unified Socialist).
