KATHMANDU: Leader of the opposition CPN (UML) parliamentary party, Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’, has said that the ongoing crisis in Parliament can be resolved through the initiative of Prime Minister Balen Shah and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane.

Speaking in Wednesday’s House of Representatives meeting, Badal stated that the deadlock would end if Prime Minister Shah admits in Parliament that his recent remark claiming Nepal had also encroached on Indian territory was a serious mistake.

He further suggested that if the Prime Minister does not retract the statement, the crisis could still be resolved if RSP Chair Lamichhane, in his capacity as party leader, instructs the Prime Minister to withdraw the comment, calling it “anti-national.”

As a third option, Badal proposed that Speaker Dev Prasad Aryal could issue a ruling removing the statement from parliamentary records.

Badal also said opposition parties were compelled to protest as the Prime Minister’s remarks in Parliament were “anti-national and factually incorrect,” which he argued had triggered the current parliamentary obstruction.
