UML finalizes 9 Kathmandu candidates, constituency 4 still open
The party is yet to confirm its candidate for Constituency No. 4, where UML Secretary Rajan Bhattarai has been a frontrunner.
KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has finalized its candidates for nine of Kathmandu’s ten constituencies ahead of the upcoming elections.
The party is yet to confirm its candidate for Constituency No. 4, where UML Secretary Rajan Bhattarai has been a frontrunner.
Constituency No. 4 is a traditional stronghold of Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa, who has secured consecutive victories in the past three elections.
Bhattarai has announced that he will not contest this time.
Sources from the UML Secretariat indicate that former Budhanilkantha mayor Uddhav Kharel is likely to run from this constituency.
In Constituency No. 5, UML leader Ishwar Pokharel will be contesting after consulting with party leaders.
