KATHMANDU: The chairpersons of three major state-owned banks in Nepal have resigned from their posts as the government continues its broader administrative restructuring.
According to sources at the Ministry of Finance, the chairpersons of the Rastriya Banijya Bank, Nepal Bank Limited, and Agricultural Development Bank of Nepal submitted their resignations to the Financial Sector Management and State Enterprises Coordination Division under the ministry.
The officials who stepped down include Dev Kumar Dhakal of Rastriya Banijya Bank, Dim Prasad Poudel of Agricultural Development Bank, and Dilli Raj Sharma of Nepal Bank.
Their resignations come shortly after the current administration moved to remove 1,594 politically appointed officials through an ordinance. While senior officials at these banks were not included in the direct dismissals, sources say they were encouraged to “pave the way” for institutional restructuring.
