KATHMANDU: Chitwan has reported three deaths due to Japanese Encephalitis (JE).
According to Ram KC, kit controller at the Public Health Office, samples collected between 23rd Shrawan and 3rd Bhadra revealed nine people infected, three of whom have died.
The virus has been detected among residents of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Kalika Municipality, Rapti Municipality, Khairahani Municipality, and Madi Municipality.
The disease is transmitted through the bite of Culex mosquitoes.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant.
Symptoms of Japanese Encephalitis include sudden high fever, severe headache, vomiting, body ache, and neck stiffness.
