Teen injured while handling firearm
Authorities said the firearm may have appeared fake, and it discharged accidentally during handling.
KATHMANDU: A 15-year-old boy was injured by a gunshot in Malangwa, Sarlahi, while reportedly handling a pistol.
The victim, Akash Ram, son of Rambishwas Ram from Malangwa-4, was hurt at a site known as “Dhaka Border” in the municipality.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Saroj Rai, the boy sustained a gunshot wound to his right hand while playing with an unclaimed pistol found inside a corner of the under-construction Hanuman temple, wrapped in red cloth.
Authorities said the firearm may have appeared fake, and it discharged accidentally during handling.
Akash is receiving treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Malangwa and is currently out of danger.
The incident follows last Saturday’s fatal shooting of Sub-Engineer Pramodkumar Yadav of the Physical Infrastructure Development Office in Malangwa.
Police are investigating the recent case, noting that the same weapon could potentially be involved.
