KATHMANDU: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a prize pool of more than USD 11.25 million for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, marking one of the richest reward structures in the tournament’s history.
According to the ICC, the total prize money stands at USD 11.25 million, to be distributed among participating teams based on performance throughout the competition.
The champions of the tournament will receive USD 2.34 million, while the runners-up will earn USD 1.17 million.
Teams reaching the semi-finals will be awarded USD 675,000 each.
Sides finishing between fifth and eighth positions will receive USD 270,000, while teams placed 13th to 20th will earn USD 112,500 each.
In addition, every match victory in the tournament will be rewarded with USD 31,154, ensuring financial incentives across all stages of the competition.
The ICC stated that the enhanced prize structure reflects its commitment to rewarding performance, promoting competitiveness, and supporting the growth of cricket among associate and emerging nations.
The 2026 T20 World Cup, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will feature 20 teams, continuing the expanded format introduced in recent editions. The tournament is expected to generate significant global attention, with billions of viewers worldwide.
Cricket analysts note that the increased prize money will provide a major boost to developing cricket nations, helping them invest in infrastructure, player development, and domestic competitions.
