KATHMANDU: Press Council Nepal has removed the online media outlet ‘NPLPress.com’, led by journalist Suraj Khadka, from its official registry.
The council has placed the outlet on a blacklist and formally decided to delist it. In addition, a letter has been sent to the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to suspend Khadka’s press pass.
According to Mahendra Raj Singh, Monitoring Officer at the Press Council, the decision to blacklist the media was based on its defiant conduct, following the council’s ruling on Falgun 8 (Feb 20).
The council also confirmed that the process to suspend Khadka’s press pass has been initiated.
The action comes after Khadka allegedly engaged in misconduct during a CPN-UML protest on Sunday.
