Stranded Nepalis in Kerung to be pepatriated via alternative route

KATHMANDU: Following the destruction of the Miteri Bridge by a flood in the Lhende River on Asar 24, efforts are underway to repatriate stranded Nepali citizens from Kerung, China, through an alternative route.

According to Chief District Officer Arjun Paudel, the Government of Nepal has requested assistance from the Chinese government via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate the return of around 1,200 stranded individuals.

The Chinese authorities have arranged food and accommodation for the Nepali nationals currently stuck in Kerung.

Among them, 91 are truck drivers and their assistants, while 117 others who were working in the area have also requested assistance to return home, officials said.
