SSP Pandey suspended for 6 months
The decision follows an incident on Chaitra 21 when SSP Pandey allegedly obstructed CAO Guragain from entering his office.
KATHMANDU: The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Saroj Guragain, has suspended the Chief of the Municipal Police, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Raju Pandey, for a period of six months.
The decision follows an incident on Chaitra 21 when SSP Pandey allegedly obstructed CAO Guragain from entering his office.
A clarification was sought from Pandey, but his response was deemed unsatisfactory.
According to the clarification letter, SSP Pandey repeatedly ignored requests from the Deputy Mayor, CAO, ward chairpersons, and executive members to unlock the CAO’s office, thereby obstructing the functioning of the metropolitan administration.
In his defense, SSP Pandey stated that he was acting under the direct orders of Mayor Balen Shah.
Following the unsatisfactory explanation and repeated reports of non-cooperation, CAO Guragain proceeded with Pandey’s suspension in accordance with administrative procedure.
