KATHMANDU: Sri Lanka secured their second consecutive victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 with a commanding 105-run win over Oman in Group B action at Pallekele on Thursday.

With the emphatic win, Sri Lanka climbed to the top of Group B with four points, significantly strengthening their chances of progressing to the Super Eight stage.
Mohammad Nadeem was the lone bright spot for Oman, scoring an unbeaten 53 runs.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Oman invited Sri Lanka to bat first. The hosts posted an imposing total of 226 for five in 20 overs despite a modest start from their opening pair. Pathum Nissanka scored 13, while Kamil Mishara contributed just 8.
The innings was rebuilt brilliantly by Kusal Mendis and Pavan Rathnayake, who stitched together a crucial 94-run partnership for the third wicket.
Rathnayake smashed 60 runs off just 28 balls, hitting eight fours and a six. Mendis added a composed 61 off 45 deliveries, striking seven boundaries before being run out.
Captain Dasun Shanaka then provided the late fireworks, hammering 50 off only 20 balls, including two fours and five towering sixes, to propel Sri Lanka past the 220 mark.
Sri Lanka’s dominant all-round display now puts them in a strong position as the tournament heads toward its decisive phase.
