KATHMANDU: Nepali women’s national football team captain Sabitra Bhandari (Samba) has expressed heartfelt gratitude to supporters who have come forward to assist her treatment.

Just a day after appealing for financial help, Samba thanked fans for their overwhelming support, trust, and affection over the past 24 hours, while requesting that no additional donations be sent.

According to Samba, over Rs 10 million has already been collected in her Nepali bank account, alongside around Rs 4.5 million (NZD 52,000) through international platforms.

Promises of cash and in-kind support have also been received from various organizations and sponsors.

With accommodation and travel expenses in Qatar for her treatment expected to be covered, she has asked well-wishers to refrain from sending more funds.

Samba further stated that her club has facilitated the process by releasing insurance funds to cover surgery and rehabilitation, ensuring her treatment proceeds smoothly.

She is confident that the surgery date will be set soon.

Acknowledging the physical and mental fatigue caused by her injury, Samba said the encouragement from supporters has given her the courage to rise again. “As a player, I have realized once more that the greatest assets I have earned are not money or trophies, but love, trust, and support,” she wrote.

With determination, Samba reaffirmed her commitment to return to the field wearing Nepal’s jersey. “I will come back, stronger than ever—for my country, for all of you, and for the trust that has pushed me forward,” she said.
