RSP’s Bikram Khanal secures landslide victory in Nawalparasi-1
Khanal secured 45,241 votes, while his closest rival Chaudhary received 9,502 votes.
KATHMANDU: Bikram Khanal of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has registered a commanding victory in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West) Constituency-1, defeating prominent industrialist and Binod Chaudhary of the Nepali Congress by a massive margin.
According to the final results, Khanal secured 45,241 votes, while his closest rival Chaudhary received 9,502 votes. Khanal thus won the parliamentary seat with a staggering margin of 35,739 votes.
Other major contenders also lagged far behind. Ram Prasad Pandey of the (CPN-UML) garnered 7,956 votes, while veteran leader Hridayesh Tripathi of the Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal received 7,832 votes.
Meanwhile, Navanit Kumar Mishra of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party managed 1,593 votes.
Khanal’s victory is widely viewed as a major political upset in Nawalparasi, as the young RSP candidate managed to defeat heavyweight figures including billionaire businessman Chaudhary and veteran regional leader Tripathi, both of whom have long dominated the area’s political landscape.
