RSP leadership election sees 2,959 votes cast as many delegates skip polling

KATHMANDU: The first phase of voting for the new leadership of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has concluded, with 2,959 out of 4,311 delegates casting their votes.
According to Ram Prasad Rimal of Ramlaxman Innovation, which managed the electronic voting system, a total of 1,352 delegates remained absent from the voting process.
An RSP leader said the turnout was lower than expected as many delegates returned home following delays in the election process and poor management during the party’s first general convention.
A total of 384 candidates contested for 99 central committee member positions.
The election process for office-bearers will begin after the announcement of the first-round voting results.
