KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has submitted a list of 110 candidates for the proportional representation system to the Election Commission ahead of the upcoming elections.

In a significant shift, the party has chosen to prioritize entirely new faces, giving a break to leaders who have previously held positions in past elections.

According to party spokesperson Mohan Shrestha, RPP has taken a strict decision not to include any leader who has served in a position of advantage or as a lawmaker between 2064 and 2079 in its proportional representation list.

This policy has excluded several influential and heavyweight leaders from the current list.

Dr. Lohani’s Bid Rejected

During the preparation of the proportional list, former party chairman Dr. Prakashchandra Lohani demanded a place, arguing that he should be exempt from the rule since he had previously served as a lawmaker from the Janashakti Party.

The matter was discussed at a meeting of the central executive committee, but no consensus was reached.

A vote was then held, in which the majority decided against including Lohani, leading to his exclusion from the candidate list.
