KATHMANDU: Chitwan’s tourism sector has received a major boost with the opening of the district’s first five-star hotel, Royal Tulip, in Sauraha.

The hotel, built over nearly three years, is a joint venture between KTM Hospitality Group and the internationally acclaimed French Louvre Hotels Group.

It is located in Ratnanagar Municipality–5, in front of the Janakouli Community Forest Office.

Rameshwar Sah, chairman of KTMC Hospitality, said the collaboration with Louvre Hotels will help promote Chitwan’s tourism internationally. “Chitwan holds a unique place in Nepal’s tourism. With the closure of some wildlife lodge hotels, there was a growing demand for high-end accommodations,” Sah added.

The hotel’s lead investor, Shah, a prominent Non-Resident Nepali, emphasized that Chitwan previously had only local hotels, making Royal Tulip the district’s first international five-star resort. “We wanted to offer tourists world-class services that were previously unavailable in the region,” he said.

The total investment in the resort has reached over Rs 175 crore. According to Sah, the resort has been designed to provide premium facilities, with an emphasis on service quality. “Each guest requires nearly two staff members to ensure excellent service. Tourists are willing to pay for quality experiences,” he explained.

The hotel prioritizes the use of local products and employment of local staff. Currently, 94 people are employed at the resort.

Royal Tulip features heritage and boutique-style architecture and offers extensive facilities, including:

  • A 500-seat banquet hall and seminar hall
  • Lobby lounge and all-day dining restaurant
  • Rooftop restaurant and bar
  • Swimming pool and private pools in suites
  • Boat rides, artificial pond for fishing and boating
  • Spa and health club
  • Children’s park and MP theater
  • Long tennis court, trekking paths, and an in-house bakery

The resort’s main building offers stunning jungle views from the all-day dining restaurant. Its sustainable, eco-friendly structures integrate seamlessly with the natural surroundings, enhancing the visitor experience.

Chair Sah said, “Royal Tulip is more than just a hotel; it’s a platform to elevate Chitwan’s tourism and provide world-class hospitality that meets international standards.”
