KATHMANDU: Resham Chaudhary, the protector of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP), has not been able to attend the court proceedings regarding his case.

Although he was elected as the Chair of the NUP from the recent convention, the decision was made by the Election Commission that he could not become the party chair due to his involvement in the Tikapur incident.

Resham had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court claiming that he was granted amnesty by the President and should be allowed to become the party president.

Today’s hearing was scheduled before the joint bench of justices Nahakul Subedi and Til Prasad Shrestha.

The hearing scheduled for today has been postponed as Justice Subedi, who was appointed to hear the case, is not available. Even if the decision on the Tikapur case is made by Justice Subedi, it will be heard in the same case.

If the old case is also kept along with it, the judgment of Subedi’s bench will not be effective in hearing the same case.
