Public holiday on May 28
The holiday will apply nationwide across government offices, public institutions, and schools.
KATHMANDU: The Government has announced a public holiday on Jestha 14 (May 28) on the occasion of Bakra Eid, an important festival for Muslim communities.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the decision was made following a recommendation from the Muslim Commission, which confirmed that the festival falls on that date this year.
The annual observance marks one of the most significant religious celebrations for Muslims worldwide, known as Eid al-Adha.
The ministry stated that the public holiday has been arranged in line with the government’s policy of respecting religious diversity and ensuring official recognition of major cultural and religious festivals in the country.
Bakra Eid, also known as Eid al-Adha, is traditionally observed with prayers, family gatherings, and charitable acts, including the sharing of meat with the needy.
The holiday will apply nationwide across government offices, public institutions, and schools.
