KATHMANDU: Paris Saint-Germain moved within touching distance of retaining the Ligue 1 title after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Stade Brestois 29 on Sunday.

Substitute Désiré Doué scored the decisive goal in the 82nd minute, cutting inside from the left before firing home to hand PSG a crucial win.

The victory leaves PSG six points clear of second-placed RC Lens with only two matches remaining, meaning the Parisian giants now need just one more point to officially clinch the Ligue 1 crown.

The match also marked the 100th Ligue 1 game in charge for PSG head coach Luis Enrique.

PSG dominated possession and created several chances from the start but struggled to break down Brest’s defense. A powerful effort from Lucas Hernández was brilliantly denied by Brest goalkeeper Grégoire Coudert.

In the second half, Enrique introduced Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, adding more intensity to PSG’s attack.

Senny Mayulu came agonizingly close when his shot struck both the bar and the post, while João Neves narrowly missed the target.

However, Doué eventually broke the deadlock late in the game to seal an important three points for PSG.

Brest pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages, but PSG goalkeeper Renato Marin produced a crucial save to preserve the lead.

With the victory, PSG also extended their unbeaten run against Brest to 34 consecutive matches.
