KATHMANDU: Residents in the Bus Park area of Pokhara have started voluntarily demolishing houses and other structures built on encroached land, as the metropolitan authority’s 15-day eviction notice nears its deadline on the 24th.
The local administration had issued the notice to clear the area to facilitate the construction of a well-organized bus park.

Even before the deadline expires, locals have begun removing their own structures and safely relocating materials.

Landowners in the area, who had previously acquired ownership certificates for around Rs 150,000, stated that they are cooperating with the development initiative.

They emphasized that supporting infrastructure development and creating a smooth environment for the bus park project is also their responsibility.

According to the metropolitan notice, the clearance process is expected to be completed within the stipulated timeframe, after which the bus park construction work will move forward.

The self-initiated cooperation from locals has been seen as a positive step toward the project’s timely progress.
