Prachanda: “If people don’t trust Maoists, country won’t survive”
He claimed that during its time in government, the Maoist party had carried out good works while avoiding wrongdoings.
KATHMANDU: Chairperson of CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has warned that Nepal could head towards disaster if the people lose faith in the Maoists.
Addressing the Post Bahadur Bogati Memorial National Energy Dialogue 2082 in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Dahal said, “To be honest, if people do not trust the Maoists, this country will fall into crisis. It won’t survive—it will face very difficult times.”
He claimed that during its time in government, the Maoist party had carried out good works while avoiding wrongdoings.
In contrast, he accused the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML of being deeply involved in corruption.
Dahal further remarked that the current government was formed out of fear, not with the intention of ensuring good governance.
He stressed that the country’s education curriculum, plans, and policies should have been shaped according to Maoist ideology, but that has not been realized.
Acknowledging past shortcomings of his own party, the Maoist leader emphasized the need for self-correction and improvement to move forward.
