KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged all scattered factions of the former Maoist movement to return to the process of unity, stressing the need for collective strength to safeguard national sovereignty and revive the communist movement.

Addressing a unity declaration program between NCP and CPN (Maoist–Unity Faction) at the party headquarters in Parisdanda on Wednesday, Dahal called on former Maoist leaders and cadres to engage in self-review and unite in the national interest.

“To make the country prosperous and to protect the communist movement, we once again need to become strong through unity,” Dahal said, adding that the rightful home of divided former Maoist forces “is here.”

Referring to the country’s difficult political situation, he emphasized the need to ensure the victory of progressive forces through elections.

At the program, leaders and cadres of the CPN (Maoist–Unity Faction), led by coordinator Chiranjivi Dhakal, including central committee members, formally merged into NCP.
