Police nabs 5 with illegal firearms following hunting death
During the investigation, police recovered firearms and other weapons buried near the site.
KATHMANDU: Jajarkot police have arrested five individuals in connection with illegal firearms possession after a fatal hunting incident.
According to Sudhi Kumar Khadka, spokesperson for the District Police Office, the incident occurred on Poush 13 at around 9:00 AM in Barekot-8, when 36-year-old Prachanda Dev Singh and five others went hunting.
Prachanda Dev Singh died during the outing, prompting the police investigation.
During the investigation, police recovered firearms and other weapons buried near the site.
Following this, five individuals from Barekot Rural Municipality-8—45-year-old Indra Bahadur Singh, 54-year-old Meem Bahadur Singh, 24-year-old Rajiv Shahi, 44-year-old Janak Karki, and 19-year-old Lal Bahadur Singh—were taken into custody.
Authorities seized three illegal firearms, two iron knives, 135.18 grams of gunpowder, and 21 metal pieces used in illegal guns from the accused.
The police have launched further investigations into the incident and the source of the illegal weapons.
