Police arrest two including nephew in domestic dispute killing case
Police have arrested two individuals involved in the killing: her nephew by relation, Santosh alias Shishir KC, and his friend Kushal Pariyar.
KATHMANDU: Kaski Police on Friday publicly detailed the murder of Srijana Paudel KC, who was killed on Wednesday at Sabha Grihachowk in Metropolitan City–8, confirming that she was attacked with a khukuri (traditional knife) in what appears to be a family dispute.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted immediately after the incident, police said the case was as initially suspected—she became a victim of a domestic conflict. The District Police Office, Kaski, shared the full details through a press conference.
Police have arrested two individuals involved in the killing: her nephew by relation, Santosh alias Shishir KC, and his friend Kushal Pariyar.
Nephew KC, a 27-year-old permanent resident of Shilmi, Ward No. 11, Kushma Municipality, Parbat, was arrested from Manakamana Tole, Butwal–2. His associate, 32-year-old Pariyar, is from Rato Pahira, Pokhara–17.
Police said Santosh KC has a criminal background. Cases previously filed against him include an indecent behavior charge registered from Ward Police Office Baidam on 2080 Magh 24 (Feb 7, 2024).
He was also arrested on charges of theft and robbery on 2082 Asar 5 (June 19, 2025) at Baidam Police Office, and again on 2082 Shrawan 23 (Aug 8, 2025) from Area Police Office Sisuwa, Kaski, in another theft and robbery case.
Similarly, Pariyar has prior involvement in drug-related cases, having been prosecuted by Kaski Police on 2075 Ashoj 11 (Sept 27, 2018) and 2076 Baisakh 17 (April 30, 2019) under narcotics offenses.
Police recovered the scooter used in the incident, a Ga 25 Pa 3044 number plate vehicle, from Mustang Chowk, Pokhara–7.
The sharp weapon used in the crime, a khukuri, was also recovered from Titepani forest area in Birauta, Pokhara–16.
Victim Srijana KC had won a property-related case at Kaski District Court and had been enjoying her husband’s share of property.
However, her husband’s relatives were reportedly active in trying to reclaim the property from her.
Srijana, a resident of Malepatan, operated a shoe shop at Prithvi Chowk, Pokhara Metropolitan City–5.
She was married to Krishna KC from Malepatan four years ago. Krishna had married Srijana after his first wife died by suicide due to poison consumption.
The couple had a daughter, who is now three years old.
Krishna KC passed away two years ago. His son from his first marriage is currently serving a prison sentence at Kaski District Jail in a drug-related case.
Following Krishna’s death, disputes over inheritance and property division began within the family.
Police spokesperson DSP Haribahadur Basnet said that the accused will be charged under the homicide provisions of Chapter 12 of the Muluki Criminal Code, 2074.
Section 177 provides that those involved in committing or causing such an offense may face life imprisonment.
