Poland and Senegal selected for World Cup

KATHMANDU: MARCH. 30 – Poland and Senegal have been selected for this year’s World Cup in Qatar. Poland beat Sweden 2-0 in the European play-offs.

In Poland’s victory, Piotr Zielinski added a second goal after Robert Lewandowski scored the first goal from the penalty spot. Both goals were possible in the second half.

Senegal beat Egypt 3-1 in a penalty shootout in the second leg of the play-off on the same night to qualify for the World Cup. Boulaye Dia scored in the third minute to give Senegal a 1-0 victory. However, Egypt won 1-0 in the first leg and the game ended in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 overall draw.

Sadio Mane, Bamba, and Ismaila Sarr scored in a penalty shootout for Senegal. Only Amr El Solia of Egypt scored. However, penalties were missed by Mohamed Salah, Mostafa Mohamed, and Ahmed Sayed.

Along with Senegal, Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco and Tunisia have also been selected for the World Cup from Africa.
