PM Oli urges ethnic unity for national progress
PM Oli underscored the need to empower marginalized communities and integrate them into the broader national development framework.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the importance of fostering unity and mutual understanding among all ethnic groups to build a prosperous and inclusive nation.
Speaking at the 25th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Indigenous Nationalities Upliftment Institution held at Singha Durbar today, PM Oli underscored the need to empower marginalized communities and integrate them into the broader national development framework.
“At a time when cultural suppression is still evident in our society, every ethnic group in Nepal must rediscover and honor their identity. This is a testament to Nepal’s rich cultural diversity,” said Prime Minister Oli. “Cultural heritage must not be allowed to perish. When we talk about ethnic development, we are not promoting division or discord. We are seeking unity, mutual respect, and social justice.”
He further stated that the Institution should function as a common platform beyond political or party lines.
PM Oli reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening democracy by correcting past weaknesses based on experience and lessons learned since the country’s political transformation.
He also proposed that the board meet at least twice a year to discuss contemporary challenges and make recommendations to the government for viable solutions.
The meeting also discussed the budget and programs for the upcoming fiscal year, reviewed the current year’s performance, and considered the inclusion of additional ethnic groups in the national registry.
