PM Oli expresses grief over Uttarakhand flood, concern for affected Nepalis

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and property caused by the devastating floods in Uttarakhand, India.

Expressing his heartfelt concern, Prime Minister Oli stated that he was particularly worried upon learning that more than 17 Nepali nationals were also affected by the disaster.

Currently on an official visit to Turkmenistan, Prime Minister Oli conveyed his sentiments through social media. In his message, he wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic news of massive loss of lives and property caused by the floods in our friendly neighboring country, India, particularly in Uttarakhand. Reports indicate that more than 17 Nepali nationals have also been affected, which is very concerning.”

He further informed that immediate diplomatic initiatives have been launched through the Nepali Embassy to ensure the rescue and safety of the affected Nepali citizens.

Offering condolences to those who lost their lives in the flood and landslides, Prime Minister Oli extended his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families and prayed for strength and courage during this difficult time.
