KATHMANDU: Voting for the central committee members of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has concluded in Bharatpur, Chitwan, as part of its ongoing general convention.

According to leader Ganesh Parajuli, an estimated 60 percent voter turnout was recorded in the election that began earlier in the day.

The voting marks the first phase of the party’s convention process, which has been underway since Asar 7 in Bharatpur.

Results are expected to be announced shortly after vote counting is completed.

As per the party statute, the RSP central committee will consist of 158 members—99 elected through voting, 51 nominated by party president Rabi Lamichhane, and the remaining members being ex-officio representatives from all seven provincial committees.

Party president Rabi Lamichhane has already been elected unopposed.

Officials said the results are likely to be published within two hours of vote counting, after which the process for electing office bearers will move into its next phase.
