KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has addressed recent online criticism head-on, embracing the term “Jhole” — a slang often used to mock political followers — and redefining it as a symbol of dedication to national progress.

In a candid social media post, Oli stated that being labeled a “Jhole” is far more honorable than serving the interests of feudal elites.

“Carrying the bag of change and development for the country is a thousand times better than being a servant to a feudal family,” he wrote.

Oli also raised concerns over the rising culture of blind hero worship and digital mob mentality.

“These days, to elevate one person to god-like status, those who believe in collective values are dismissed as ‘Jhole’ and sidelined — turning society into a mindless crowd,” he said. “Crowds may have strength, but they don’t always have truth.”

Calling for resilience, Oli urged individuals not to abandon truth under pressure from online attacks. “We must protect our individuality from collective and organized assaults,” he added.

Oli’s remarks come amid increasing political tension and social media backlash, offering both a personal reflection and a broader message about leadership, loyalty, and the value of independent thought.
