PM Karki urges activist Prasai to pursue agenda through elections, not protests
During the meeting, PM Karki advised Prasai to advance his agenda through democratic elections rather than street protests.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki held a meaningful dialogue with Durga Prasai, coordinator of the “Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture, and Citizen Protection Campaign,” on Tuesday morning at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar.
During the meeting, PM Karki advised Prasai to advance his agenda through democratic elections rather than street protests.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the country can no longer endure instability or conflict and stressed that elections are the ultimate and most effective means to ensure sustainable democracy and peace.
She called on Prasai to play a responsible role during this crucial time.
Prasai, who has long advocated for the restoration of a Hindu nation, was told clearly by the Prime Minister: “Take your case to the people’s court.” She noted that only initiatives endorsed by the public through democratic processes can become institutionalized and encouraged him to make use of the electoral opportunity.
“After immense struggle and hardship, we have guided the country onto a path of peace,” PM Karki said. “The nation is now in an election phase. At such a sensitive moment, all parties must act responsibly with the mindset that this country belongs to everyone.”
As a gesture promoting peace, the Prime Minister presented Prasai with a portrait of Lord Gautam Buddha. She reiterated that the government is committed not to the pursuit of power and luxury but to justice and good governance. “We are laying the foundation to curb corruption and ensure justice for the oppressed and marginalized. Results may not be visible overnight, but sincere efforts are ongoing,” she added.
