KATHMANDU: The stage performance of the play “Chandra Lai Kasle Maryo (Who Killed Chandra?)”, centered on the struggles faced by the LGBTQIA+ community, has begun at Mandala Theatre Nepal. The play premiered on Ashar 25.

Written, conceptualized, and directed by Sandeep Shrestha—an emerging theatre artist from the fourth batch of the Mandala Theatre Lab—the play is the third production of Mandala Theatre’s 2082/83 season.

“Who Killed Chandra?” follows a queer man as he revisits pivotal moments of his life, woven with themes of love, courage, fear, and silence. The narrative explores how these memories—repeated in different ways—bring reflections of regret, despair, and the imaginative hope that life could have taken a different turn.

The cast includes Sita Devi Timilsina, Tenju Yonjan, Milan Karki, Pritisha Adhikari, Bhawana Upreti, Mausam Khadka, Kiran Chapagain, and Sandeep Shrestha himself, all delivering powerful performances.

The play will run until Shrawan 18 , every evening at 5:30 PM except Mondays.

Ticket prices range from Rs 500 (general) and Rs 300 (students) for shows between Ashar 25 and Shrawan 6.

From Shrawan 7 onwards, the prices will be Rs 1,000 (general) and Rs 500 (students).
