KATHMANDU: The selection process for election police for the upcoming House of Representatives election, scheduled from March 5, has officially begun in Parsa district.

Applications for election police were screened, and physical tests started today at Narayani Stadium in Birgunj, officials said.

Suman Kumar Karki, Assistant Chief District Officer of Parsa and coordinator of the Election Police Recruitment and Appointment Committee, confirmed the commencement of the selection process.

“From this morning, physical fitness tests and other evaluations for candidates have started,” Karki said, adding that public interest in joining the election police from Parsa has been encouraging.

The selection is being conducted under strict supervision of multiple security agencies, including the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army, and the National Investigation Department.

Karki emphasized that the process is being carried out transparently and objectively according to established standards.

Candidates underwent running tests and other physical assessments as part of the recruitment process.

Today, the committee invited 2,852 candidates for the election police from Parsa.

Meanwhile, 5,399 applications were received for the Nepal Police quota.

For the Armed Police Force, 385 positions were announced, and by Jan 15, 571 applicants had applied.
