KATHMANDU: Nepal’s state-owned fuel supplier, the Nepal Oil Corporation has increased the prices of petroleum products, citing global market pressures.

According to the corporation, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs 15 per litre, while diesel and kerosene prices have increased by Rs 10 per litre.

The new rates have come into effect from today.

Under the revised pricing, Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal, which fall under the third pricing category, will now see petrol priced at Rs 172 per litre, while diesel and kerosene will cost Rs 152 per litre.

In the second category areas, including Dang and Surkhet, petrol now costs Rs 171 per litre, while diesel and kerosene are priced at Rs 151 per litre.

Similarly, in the first category locations — Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalwari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Birgunj — petrol is now priced at Rs 169.50 per litre, while diesel and kerosene cost Rs 149.50 per litre.

The corporation said the price hike was necessary due to the evolving international situation, particularly tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran, which have affected global fuel markets.
