KATHMANDU: A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court (SC) asking for an injunction to prevent President Bidya Devi Bhandari from certifying the Citizenship Bill. Dr. Surendra Bhandari’s petition, filed last Thursday, was adjourned after he appeared before a single bench on Tuesday.
The petition names the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, and others as opponents.
Bhandari has filed a petition requesting that the Citizenship Bill not be validated because it is detrimental to the country. The petition, which was assigned to Supreme Court Judge Dr. Manoj Sharma’s bench, could not be heard on Tuesday.
The re-appearance is now set for Wednesday.
