KATHMANDU: Asimman Singh Basnyat, the Managing Director of Pathao Nepal—widely recognized as a pioneer in Nepal’s ride-sharing sector—has stepped down from his position.
Launched in 2018 under his leadership, Pathao Nepal is credited with introducing and popularizing ride-sharing culture in the country.
During its early days, the company faced significant challenges, including regulatory uncertainty, limited market trust, and infrastructural constraints.
Despite these hurdles, Basnyat’s leadership helped establish Pathao as a leading mobility platform in Nepal.
Over the years, Pathao has expanded its operations across all seven provinces, including the Kathmandu Valley.
The platform has provided income opportunities to thousands of driver-partners, contributing to the growth of Nepal’s gig economy and reshaping urban transportation habits.
In recent years, the company has evolved beyond ride-sharing into a multi-service digital platform. It now offers long-distance travel bookings, intercity transport services, food delivery, nationwide parcel delivery, and a broader marketplace ecosystem.
Pathao Nepal expressed gratitude for Basnyat’s contributions, acknowledging his role in building the company’s foundation and impact in Nepal’s digital mobility landscape.
The company also extended best wishes for his future endeavors.
