KATHMANDU: Police in Kathmandu have arrested five individuals allegedly involved in gang-related activities during an overnight operation dubbed “Operation Safety.”

Among those detained was Prabin Tamang, also known as “Dimple,” who was reportedly associated with the Shyam Lama group and involved in criminal activities in the Bouddha area.
Others arrested include Birju Maharjan from the Kalanki–Bafal area, Sujan Karki from the Kalanki bus ticket counter and petrol pump area, Saru Humagain from Syuchatar, and Biki Lama, accused of robbery and gang-related offences in Boudha.
In a parallel action, police also detained 18 individuals from the Tribhuvan International Airport area for harassing arriving passengers.
Authorities said the group lured travellers to specific hotels, took commissions, and, in some cases, mistreated them.
Police said investigations are ongoing and further action will be taken against those involved.

- Sun Bahadur Tamang – Shivapuri-5, Nuwakot
- Bir Bahadur Lama – Mandandeupur-10, Kavre
- Mahesh Mahat – Mahalaxmi, Lalitpur
