KATHMANDU: Traffic police booked and fined 2,438 vehicles for violating traffic rules across the Kathmandu Valley in the past 24 hours and collected more than Rs 2.110 million in penalties.

According to Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the violations included 89 incidents of drunk driving, 108 cases of ride-sharing against the rules, 99 traffic signal violations, and 83 incidents of over-speeding.

Likewise, 59 cases were recorded for breaching lane discipline and 100 for honking in prohibited areas.

Similarly, 78 vehicles were penalized for driving vehicles in one-way road while 1,486 drivers and riders faced action for various other traffic offences, the Office said.
