Over 2,200 drivers penalized for traffic rule violations

KATHMANDU: A total of 2,223 drivers were penalized for violating traffic regulations in the past 24 hours, generating Rs 1.881 million in revenue for the state treasury.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, action was taken against 94 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol, 150 for operating ride-sharing services in violation of regulations, 177 for running red lights, and 118 for overspeeding.

Similarly, 61 drivers were penalized for failing to maintain lane discipline, 154 for honking in prohibited zones, 98 for parking vehicles on footpaths, and 120 for driving on one-way roads.

In addition, 1,251 motorists faced action for various other traffic rule violations, the office said.

Traffic police have reiterated their commitment to enforcing road safety regulations and urged all road users to comply with traffic laws to ensure safer roads across the Kathmandu Valley.
