Over 1,700 drivers penalized for traffic violations

KATHMANDU: A total of 1,773 drivers were penalized for violating traffic rules across the country in the past 24 hours, generating revenue of Rs 644,502 for the state.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the enforcement drive included 100 cases of drunk driving, 118 violations of ride-sharing regulations, 136 signal light violations, and 237 cases of speeding.

Similarly, 82 drivers were booked for failing to maintain lane discipline, 89 for unnecessary honking in restricted areas, 120 for illegal roadside parking, 91 for driving on one-way roads, and 800 others for various traffic rule violations.
