Oli slams Dahal, urges end to disruptive politics
Oli alleged that Dahal, who also leads the main opposition party, has been avoiding dialogue and is attempting to render Parliament ineffective through calculated inaction.
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has strongly criticized CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, accusing him of deliberately undermining elected representatives and obstructing the smooth functioning of Parliament.
Speaking at a training session for party lawmakers held in Baneshwor on Monday, Oli alleged that Dahal, who also leads the main opposition party, has been avoiding dialogue and is attempting to render Parliament ineffective through calculated inaction.
“I tried to reach out to Chairman Dahal to ensure that Parliament resumes on Tuesday, but he has been deliberately avoiding contact,” Oli said. “It’s not that he is unaware. Despite multiple attempts from various channels, he has not been reachable. It seems they are in a mood to shut down Parliament and avoid discussions.”
Oli warned that the opposition’s continued obstruction of parliamentary proceedings is not only counterproductive but also detrimental to the nation’s development goals.
“Efforts are being made—intentionally or otherwise—to paralyze the pace of development, weaken public representatives, and push the entire democratic process towards failure,” he said. “These actions are not only unnecessary but also harmful to the country.”
Emphasizing the need for constructive political engagement, Oli called on all parties to refrain from disruptive activities and work collaboratively for national progress. “We must put an end to such unproductive behavior that stalls development and disempowers our institutions,” he stated.
The former Prime Minister’s remarks come amid rising political tensions and ongoing obstruction in Parliament by opposition parties.
