NPC endorses multi-year funding for roads & urban projects
The ministry had proposed a total multi-year funding requirement of Rs 9.9 billion for these projects.
KATHMANDU: The National Planning Commission (NPC) has recommended the Ministry of Finance to grant multi-year funding approval for eight major road projects and 53 urban development schemes under various ministries.
In its recent meeting, the NPC endorsed proposals from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport for key projects including the Dhangadhi–Khutiya–Dipayal–Chainpur–Uraibhanjyang road, Khulalu–Sallisalla road along with six bridges, the northern section of the Karnali Corridor (Hilsa–Simkot), Lele–Bhardev–Chandpur–Thuladhurung road, 14 bridges under the Bheri Corridor (Jajarkot–Dunai–Marim–Tinje–Dho) Rimna section, and the Sahid Marga in Rolpa.
The ministry had proposed a total multi-year funding requirement of Rs 9.9 billion for these projects.
Similarly, under the Ministry of Urban Development, the NPC recommended multi-year funding approval for 53 different projects worth Rs 3.81 billion.
The commission also recommended that funding for several health infrastructure projects—including the Ayurveda Hospital in Naradevi (Block B), Mental Hospital in Lagankhel, Achham District Hospital, and a 100-bed Ayurveda hospital incorporating natural and alternative medicine—should not exceed four times the initial allocated budget.
