NMC warns doctors against promoting commercial products
The council emphasized that such activities violate the dignity of the medical profession and must stop immediately.
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Medical Council (NMC) has expressed serious concern over incidents where some doctors have used their names, photos, and professional experience to promote various commercial products and services.
The council emphasized that such activities violate the dignity of the medical profession and must stop immediately.
According to the Code of Conduct and Professional Ethics 2017, doctors are prohibited from featuring their names or images in advertisements, signboards, hoardings, brochures, or promotions for any medicine, medical device, or service.
Despite clear regulations, some doctors have not adhered to these rules.
The NMC warned that violations could lead to disciplinary action under the professional code of conduct.
Highlighting the potential impact on public trust and the integrity of the medical profession, the council urged all practicing doctors to strictly follow the ethical guidelines.
