Neupane elected unopposed as State Affairs Committee Chair

KATHMANDU: Ishwaridevi Neupane of the Nepali Congress has been elected unopposed as the Chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives.

The announcement was made during the committee meeting on Wednesday, which was chaired by senior member Sarvendra Nath Shukla.

Shukla officially declared Neupane’s unopposed election.

Neupane had resigned from her previous position as Chairperson of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee before registering her candidacy for the State Affairs Committee.

Her proposer was Nepali Congress lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada, while her supporter was CPN-UML lawmaker Krishnath Gopal Shrestha.

Earlier, Khatiwada had resigned amid a cooling-off period dispute.
