NEPSE suffers double-digit drop as market closes lower

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index witnessed a notable decline today, falling by 13.52 points to settle at 2,631.17.

According to NEPSE, a total of 108,73,372 shares of 332 companies were traded 67,485 times, amounting to a total turnover of Rs 5.23 billion.

Sector Performance

Four sectoral indices closed in positive territory:

• Finance: +1.59%

• Hotels & Tourism: +0.52%

• Manufacturing & Processing: +0.24%

• Mutual Funds: +0.44%

All other sector indices declined:

• Banking: –0.75%

• Development Bank: –0.57%

• Hydropower: –0.50%

• Investment: –0.51%

• Life Insurance: –1.18%

• Microfinance: –0.48%

• Non-Life Insurance: –0.74%

• Trading: –0.32%

• Others: –0.51%

Top Movers

Several companies hit the positive circuit, including:

• Sagarmatha Distillery Ltd.

• Mithila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd.

• Jhapa Energy Ltd.

• Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd.

The biggest loser of the day was Samling Power Company Ltd., whose share price dropped 2.85%.
