NEPSE index falls 1.66 points amid mixed trading on Thursday

The higher number of declining stocks contributed to the overall drop in the Nepse Index.

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s stock market saw a slight decline on Thursday, with the Nepse Index dropping 1.66 points or 0.06% from Wednesday, closing at 2,607.37 points.

On Wednesday, the index had fallen by nearly 5 points, and Thursday continued the same downward trend.

Out of the shares traded, 98 companies recorded price gains, 149 companies saw their share prices decline, and 11 companies remained unchanged.

The higher number of declining stocks contributed to the overall drop in the Nepse Index.

A total of 69,729 transactions were executed on Thursday, with 77,68,601 shares traded, amounting to a turnover of Rs 349.79 crore.

This is lower than Wednesday’s total turnover of Rs 373.87 crore, indicating reduced market activity.

Among the 13 sub-sectors traded, the Banking, Life Insurance, Manufacturing & Processing, Microfinance, and Trading sub-indices rose, while the remaining sectors experienced a decline.
