NEPSE index edges up by 6.94 points; turnover nears Rs 2.93 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index recorded a slight gain today, rising by 6.94 points to close at 2,718.16.

According to NEPSE, a total of 3.34 million shares from 334 listed companies were traded across 45,065 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs 2.93 billion.

Among sectoral indices, banking rose by 0.33%, development banks by 0.29%, hotels and tourism by 0.20%, life insurance by 0.30%, microfinance by 0.35%, trade by 1.57%, and the “others” group by 0.83%.

Most remaining sectors, however, saw declines.

Sub-indices such as finance fell by 0.08%, investment by 0.07%, manufacturing and processing by 0.08%, mutual funds by 0.16%, and non-life insurance by 0.56%.

In terms of trading activity, NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited led the turnover with Rs 176.8 million worth of shares traded.

Meanwhile, National Hydro Power Company recorded the highest volume, with 526,682 shares changing hands.
