Nepal’s victorious start in tri-nation series by defeating PNG
KATHMANDU: MARCH. 28 – Nepal defeated Papua New Guinea (PNG) in the first match of the tri-nation Twenty20 cricket series.
PNG was limited to 168 runs with four balls to spare while chasing a target of 184 runs, and Nepal won by 15 runs.
Karan KC’s two wickets in the 19th over were crucial in defeating the previously unbeaten PNG. He put PNG under pressure by taking two wickets in the last two balls of the 19th over.
Nepal was able to re-enter the game after PNG’s Norman Vanua, who was having an aggressive inning with 52 runs off 29 balls, was out. Karan snagged Simon Atai’s wicket right away. Alei Nao was run out on the second ball of the 20th over, and Nepal won.
Karan and Sandeep Lamichhane took 3-3 wickets to help Nepal win. Similarly, Abinash Bohora took 2 wickets and Sompal Kami took 1 wicket.
Earlier, Nepal lost nine wickets and scored 183 runs in the allotted 20 overs after losing the toss in Kirtipur. Aasif Sheikh of Nepal scored 43 runs, Rohit Poudel 34, Aarif Sheikh 31 runs, and Kushal Bhurtel 20 runs.
Nepal, which had earlier lost two ODIs at home, has felt some relief with this victory.
