Nepal women return from Emerging Teams Asia Cup with renewed confidence & valuable experience
According to Mahato, coaches from stronger teams also acknowledged Nepal’s progress and praised the visible development in their overall game.
KATHMANDU: The Nepal women’s national cricket team has returned home after competing in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup, carrying valuable experience and growing confidence despite falling short of their desired results.
Although the outcomes did not go in Nepal’s favour, vice-captain Puja Mahato said the team showed clear signs of improvement throughout the tournament, describing the tour as a major learning curve for the young side.
According to Mahato, coaches from stronger teams also acknowledged Nepal’s progress and praised the visible development in their overall game.
Nepal suffered competitive defeats against Pakistan A by 30 runs and United Arab Emirates A by 18 runs, while they were beaten by seven wickets by India A.
Despite the losses, team morale remained high. Mahato highlighted the strong dressing-room atmosphere and the commitment shown by every player, noting that each member of the squad gave her best on the field.
“The results may not reflect it, but we have grown a lot as a team. Competing against strong sides has shown us where we stand and what we need to improve,” Mahato said. “With more such opportunities, we believe we can deliver much better results in the future.”
Overall, the tour may not have been rewarding in terms of results, but it proved to be a crucial stepping stone for Nepalese women’s cricket—building confidence, strengthening belief, and lighting a promising path for the future.
